Work History
August 2023 - May 2024
Assistant Production Manager - FSU School of Theatre
One of my MFA assistantship assignments was assisting the production management department at FSU. This involved facilitating the rental and usage of School of Theatre spaces by student or outside organizations, sending weekly meeting reminder/invite emails, compiling and distributing a weekly newsletter about the progress made in each department towards current productions, facilitating tours and interviews with prospective MFA students, and other projects as needed.
August 2023 - May 2024
Safety Coordinator - FSU School of Theatre
As Safety Coordinator, I worked closely with Production Management and Environmental Health and Safety to create a safer educational experience and workplace. I revised the fire drill procedure for our theatre spaces, added PPE dispensers to each theatre space, successfully campaigned for the OSHA-10 certification to become part of a class curriculum, and created emergency response protocols for each theatre space. Recurring duties included ensuring that first aid kits and PPE dispensers were fully stocked, regular walk-throughs to ensure that marked egress paths were kept clear, and leading entire productions (cast and crew) through fire drills during dress rehearsals.
October 2023 - April 2024
Associate Production Manager - FSU SOT - Everybody
During my MFA at FSU, I worked as the APM for FSU's production of Everybody. Ongoing responsibilities included coordinating and scheduling meetings between all production members, moderating production meetings, taking meeting minutes, and answering questions that the production team has related to the theatre space and school policies/procedures. During the design process, I worked extensively with the director, costume designer, and costume shop to finalize a design within budget without sacrificing thematic intent or quality (from 380% over budget to 7.5% under budget).
April 2023 - November 2023
Technical Director - FSU SOT - Imogen Says Nothing
I worked with the entire production team for Imogen Says Nothing to take their creative vision and translate it into a fully physical set. Responsibilities included sketching, drafting, and 3D modeling the set, estimating time, materials, and budget, creating and maintaining a project Gantt, providing the shop with construction drawings, and managing a team of 10 students during the installation and removal of the set from the theatre space.
August 2022 - May 2023
Assistant Manager - FSU SOT Prop Shop
As the assistant manager in the props shop I coordinated props rentals from the school to outside organizations, maintained shop safety/cleanliness, and tracked inventory during production rehearsals and performances. I also helped manage 3-4 props artisans and worked as a props artisan myself to create specialty props that had effects of some kind (lights, smoke, etc) or custom-designed paper props in Photoshop.
August 2021 - April 2023
Assistant Technical Director - FSU School of Theatre
Over two seasons I worked on three shows: Men On Boats (black-box theatre), Dragons Love Tacos (mainstage, TYA), and The Secret In The Wings (studio theatre). As ATD I helped create budget, labor, and material estimates for the preliminary design meetings. I also created and maintained the build/paints Gantt chart, modeled and drafted several set pieces, and was the primary point of contact for carpenter questions in the shop. I helped create load-in and strike plans on all projects and led teams of up to 11 workers through the calls. I also worked on specialty projects such as "trick" grandfather clock design, oversized wall construction and install, cantilevered beam structural analysis, sustainable wall resue, and crawlspace safety design.
May 2022 - August 2022
Universal Creative Intern - Universal Orlando Resort
As an intern, I worked on the Ride Design and Show Technology team to bridge the gap between engineering limitations and creative ideas. Over my 12-week internship, I worked on 13 different projects, including infographic design (topics included ASTM standard F2291, ride height requirements, and early childhood milestones), 3D scanning/modeling/printing for in-park ride restraint data and scale models of upcoming attractions, and creating a ride information database containing all existing Universal attractions worldwide. I also contributed narrative ideas and IP research for upcoming projects.
January 2022 - June 2023
Assistant Technical Director - Prague Quadrennial 2023
For the 2023 Prague Quadrennial, I was part of the team of FSU faculty, staff, and students that were chosen to work with USITT and designers from across the United States to build two exhibits representing the nation at the world's largest exhibition of technical and performance theatre (PQ). As part of this project, I budgeted and sourced materials, welded the internal steel structure for the outdoor exhibit, helped build the structure and craft the details of an 'upcycled house', and assisted with the installation of sound and lighting elements. As part of this project, I traveled to USITT 2023 for the national unveiling of the exhibits, then traveled to Prague for the 2023 PQ as the install/maintenance/takedown team.
August 2021 - May 2022
Scenic Carpenter - FSU SOT Scene Shop
As part of my assistantship program with the School of Theatre, I worked in the scene shop to help build, assemble, and mock-up scenery. Occasionally I also helped with the props and lighting departments. Work included load-in and strikes for productions, scenic carpentry, welding, and curtain fabrication.
May 2021 - August 2021
Mechanical Engineering Intern - AVT Simulation
I worked in research and development to reverse engineer a joystick. This process involved 3D scanning, 3D modeling, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and silicone mold-making to create resin casts. I also was involved with the materials research process and part procurement. The replica joystick produced was successfully integrated and tested in the appropriate simulator.
July 2019 - May 2021
Reliability Engineering CWEP - UCF/Lockheed Martin
As a participant of the College Work Experience Program (CWEP) at UCF, I joined the reliability engineering team at Lockheed to work on system reliability of the Apache helicopter. This involved FRACAS data analysis, Root Cause Correction Action investigation of part failures, and MTBF/MTBMA metric tracking. Smaller projects included poster design, 3D printing, and 3D modeling.
March 2019
Mechanical Assembly Assistant - Skyline Attractions LLC
I helped with the construction and assembly of coaster cars for Sea World San Diego's Tidal Twister, including chassis, bogies, seat belts, and fiberglass. I also assisted in testing the safety harness electrical components and prepped the completed cars for shipping.
June 2017 - July 2019
Mechanical Intern - Cole Engineering Services Inc.
On the software side, I designed and programmed UI elements in an interactive logistics estimation matrix that the company showcased at I/ITSEC. My work with hardware included creating a documentation procedure for tracking production of hardware kits for combat simulator upgrades as well as assembling the hardware upgrade kits and preparing them for shipping.
